Regularly exfoliating your skin with chemical peels at Evolution Laser Clinic is important for maintaining healthy and glowing skin. By removing excess dead skin cells, exfoliating helps to unclog pores and prevent breakouts. It also promotes cell turnover, a natural process by which our body sheds dead skin cells and replaces them with new ones. Another benefit of exfoliating is it allows your evolveMD skincare products to better penetrate into your skin, making them more effective. However, it is important to choose the right peel treatment for your skin type and to not overdo it as excessive exfoliation can cause irritation and damage to the skin.

Read on to find out more about the chemical peels we offer at Evolution Laser Clinic.

What does a chemical peel do?

Chemical peels are topical agents that produce a superficial and precise penetration of the skin. A controlled destruction of the outer skin layers is achieved, which is followed by skin repair and regeneration.

Chemical peels produce a controlled wound that will result in skin renewal with the reduction of sun damage, pigmentation, acne lesions, fine lines and wrinkles. The appearance of scars can also be reduced and softened. The depth of penetration and results depend on the strength of agents used as well as your consistency with recommended treatments and your at home skin care.

Do chemical peels help with acne?

Chemical peels can be used to treat a variety of skin concerns, including acne, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation and sun damage. It is a cosmetic treatment that involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin, which causes the outermost layers to exfoliate. This process stimulates the growth of new skin cells, resulting in smoother, more even-toned skin.

There are different types of chemical peels available at Evolution Laser Clinic, ranging from mild to gentle peels including the acne peel, pigment peel, ageless peel and instant glow peel which will require minimal downtime to deep peels such as our Ultimate peel which induces superficial peeling. The ultimate peel requires 10 days of recovery time.

It is important to book in your complimentary consultation with one of our therapists to determine the best type of chemical peel for your individual needs and skin type.

What is the process of a skin peel at Evolution Laser Clinic?

The process of your skin peel will begin with a thorough cleansing of the skin using our evolveMD products. Your therapist will then apply a small amount of our evolveMD protective balm on any sensitive areas such as the lips and around the eyes. The peel will then be applied to the skin and left on for a specified amount of time depending on the strength of the peel and the individual’s skin type. After the solution is removed, a personalised cocktail of vitamins will be infused into the skin. Following your treatment, the skin may appear flushed and be sensitive for a few days.

It is important to avoid excessive sun exposure for 2 weeks and to follow the recommended aftercare instructions to ensure optimal results.

Do chemical peels hurt?

During your treatment, the chemical peel may cause some discomfort or a tingling sensation, depending on the type and concentration of the peel used as well as the strength of your skin barrier. However, the sensation is usually temporary and can be managed with proper post-peel care. It is important to discuss any concerns or questions with one of our therapists before undergoing a chemical peel to ensure the best possible experience.

What should I do after my chemical peel?

After your chemical peel treatment at Evolution Laser Clinic, it is important to follow the recommended post care advice:

  • Use evolveMD Advanced Hydrating Serum & Hydrating Mist for 3 days
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure for 2 weeks after your treatment. Ensure you continue to apply our evolveMD Sun Protectant and wear a hat if you go outside.
