Fraxel laser treatment is a safe, non invasive procedure that allows you to rediscover the fresh, healthy skin of your youth.  Fraxel promotes a rapid healing response in the skin by distributing microscopic laser columns deep into the dermis, creating tiny wounds which trigger the body’s natural healing process.  This healing process accelerates the skin’s remodelling of collagen and elastin creating new skin from the inside out resulting in tighter, fresher, more youthful looking skin.

Even though Fraxel re:fine is considered as only moderately aggressive, a small amount of downtime should be expected for most patients. Mild erythema (redness) and slight edema (swelling) will occur immediately post treatment.  The skin will feel hot and tingly, very similar to “fresh” sunburn.  Typically by day 2 desquamation (peeling) will commence and continue for a few days.  The desquamation is very fine, not easily visible to others, but to touch will feel like sandpaper.   One week post treatment all redness and peeling should be resolved.

To help maintain results and protect the skin, a good skincare regime and sun protection is recommended.
