| CONCERN: |
Sun spots, age spots,
freckles, and uneven skin tone on the face and body |
| SOLUTION: |
Candela GentleLASE
Alexandrite Laser. Candela technologies deliver unmatched performance
in treating brown spots, sun spots, age spots, and
mottled complexions for all skin types. |
| RESULT: |
Removal to reduction of
unwanted pigmented lesions and imperfections,
improved skin texture and appearance |
| SESSIONS REQUIRED: |
1 to 3 sessions. |
| SESSION INTERVAL: |
4 to 6 weeks. |
| SESSION DURATION: |
5 to 60 minutes,
dependent on area treated. |
| RECOVERY PERIOD: |
Most patients
experience a slight darkening of the lesion treated
which is accompanied by a reddening or local
swelling of the surrounding skin. Between 1 to 3
weeks the darkened lesions will fade and/or flake
off. Uneven complexions fade and become clearer, the
skin appears rejuvenated. |
HOW DOES LASER WORK?
The Candela GentleLASE emits a single concentrated light
beam which is selectively absorbed by the pigmented lesions
and imperfections on the skin. The pigmented cells attract
this light which is converted into thermal energy producing
a healing response, which in turn provides a therapeutic
effect. Pigmented lesions and imperfections fade away over
three weeks, and the skin is left rejuvenated and youthful
in appearance.
IS LASER SAFE?
Yes, laser has been used in a variety of medical and
cosmetic procedures for many years. Laser is a form of light
which is unable to produce genetic change, and thereby, does
not contribute to the development of cancer or pose any risk
to the skin (unlike UVA and UVB).
In addition, Evolution Laser uses Candela Technologies, a
highly regarded name in the industry which has pioneered the
development of some of the safest and most effective
products available in today’s market. Although laser
treatments are considered safe, it is important to have your
treatments conducted by an experienced and trained
professional.
HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE REQUIRED?
The amount of sessions required will vary from person to
person and also the area being treated. For the majority of
people an average of 1 to 3 sessions are required to fade or
remove pigmented lesions and imperfections. This average is
dependent on factors such as the severity of the pigmented
lesion, excessive sun damage, and the density of freckled
areas.
IS LASER PAINFUL?
Most patients describe the treatment as mildly
uncomfortable, similar in sensation to the flick of an
elastic band. The degree of discomfort experienced is
dependant on the energy levels used, skin type, the darkness
of the lesions treated, and of course the individual.
Generally the treatment is well tolerated and relatively
pain free. For those who find the procedure uncomfortable or
are treating a sensitive area, a topical anesthetic is
available.
IS LASER PIGMENTATION REDUCTION & SKIN REJUVENATION
PERMANENT?
The permanence of the treatment is dependent on an
individual’s ability to reduce their sun exposure and
protect their skin. Many patients experience permanent
pigmentation removal, however new spots may appear, and
ultimately, maintenance treatments will need to be performed
(especially in areas that are frequently exposed to the
sun). If an individual’s sun exposure is reduced, and a SPF
30+ sunscreen is regularly applied, the reoccurrence of
pigmentation can be greatly minimized and the rejuvenation
results of the treatment can be maintained.
IS LASER SUITABLE FOR ME?
The Candela GentleLASE can safely and effectively treat
any skin type. Both male and female patients, of all ages
can be treated on any area of the body with the area beneath
the eyebrows being the only exception.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY TREATMENT?
To maximise results and to reduce the risk of adverse
skin reactions the following activities should be avoided
for at least 2-4 weeks prior to treatment:
- Sun exposure (apply a SPF 30+ sunscreen daily and
avoid the sun)
- Solariums
- Fake tan
- Harsh exfoliants or products containing AHA’s
Your skin should be clean and free of make-up on the day
of treatment.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY TREATMENT?
Immediately following your treatment, the lesions treated
will appear darker with the surrounding skin appearing
slightly red and swollen. This redness and swelling may last
for an hour or two to a day. Over the period of one to three
weeks the lesions and imperfections will fade and/or flake
away. A significant improvement in the skin becomes apparent
after one month with skin looking visibly rejuvenated,
clearer, and more youthful in appearance.
ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON MY ACTVITITIES AFTER THE
TREATMENT?
After the treatment you may resume your normal day to day
activities; however some patients may experience more
redness or darkness than others, and should plan their
social engagements accordingly. Patients should limit their
sun/solarium exposure and apply a SPF 30+ sunscreen to the
area treated.
In general the following activities should be avoided
until all redness has subsided:
- Strenuous exercise or activities that can cause
profuse sweating
- Make-up and topical medications
- Scrubbing, shaving, and exfoliating
- Swimming pools and spas (chlorinated water)
Fake tans, AHA’s and harsh exfoliants should be avoided
for at least 2 weeks after treatment. The next scheduled
treatment should also be considered when deciding to do
particular activities or using certain products; enough time
needs to have had elapsed before proceeding with the next
treatment.
